In the summer of 2021, a fire burned within a mile of my family's property in the Bitterroot Valley. We evacuated on a Tuesday afternoon with 30 minutes of warning. Our neighbors to the east lost their barn. The couple at the end of the road lost everything.

I spent that evacuation reading everything I could find about what actually protects homes from wildfire. The research was clear — exterior sprinklers, ember-resistant vents, defensible space — but the products that implemented this research were either built for contractors or priced for commercial properties.

There was nothing a homeowner could realistically buy, install themselves, and trust to work.

That's what Headwater Fire is built to change. We translate what professional fire crews know about structure protection into products any homeowner can deploy — before the next fire season, not during it.
